Every nickel minted in the 20th century, many over 100 years old!
The nickel is one of America’s most fascinating and important coins. 20th century nickels span three different series, including the long-gone Liberty Head Nickel from the early 1900s and the legendary Buffalo Nickel — and include the only SILVER nickels in history. However, the age and growing scarcity of these coins makes it more difficult with every passing day to assemble a meaningful collection that spans the complete century.
Now you are invited to reserve The Complete 20th Century Nickel Treasury, a comprehensive collection of every year’s nickel design minted in the 20th century. Available exclusively from the Danbury Mint and handsomely presented in a custom wooden display chest, it includes historic and rarely seen coins…and many that are now over 100 years old.
The classic Liberty Head Nickel was America’s five-cent coin at the turn of the 20th century. The only nickel to depict Liberty, it was last made for circulation over a century ago in 1912. These were America’s nickels when Theodore Roosevelt was president, when men first flew an airplane and when Ford introduced the Model T automobile.
In 1913, the U.S. Mint introduced one of America’s most famous and beautiful coins — the stunning Buffalo Nickel, which was issued through World War I, the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression. The coin honors America’s Wild West heritage and was created by renowned sculptor James Earle Fraser. Every year’s Buffalo Nickel is included in this complete collection, even the low-mintage 1931 issue!
The Jefferson Nickel replaced the Buffalo Nickel in 1938 and remained as the nation’s nickel for the rest of the 20th century. It is one of America’s most enduring coin designs. What’s more, coins minted during World War II were struck in 35% silver to save nickel for the war effort — making them the only silver nickels in history! The result is a collection of significant meaning, beauty and importance. Collectively, these three coveted series encompass the entire century, bringing 100 years of history and culture to life like never before.
All coins dated 1901 to 1964 will be presented in collectible circulated condition, while coins from 1965 to the end of the century will be in uncirculated condition. What’s more, each historic nickel is housed in a crystal-clear capsule that both protects it from damage and allows it to be safely stored for the enjoyment of future generations. Coins will be delivered at the rate of four per month, except for the final shipment that will include three coins. Also included — at no additional charge — is a custom-made wooden display chest that will be sent at about the same time as the second coin shipment. The display features spaces for each coin, which can be removed whenever you wish to examine its fine details or share its fascinating history with friends and family.
